SHE (Support Help Empowerment)
Support, Help and Empowerment – SHE is a non-profit organisation that provides free and confidential counselling and support for women who are currently experiencing or have experienced abuse in an intimate or family relationship. This may include physical, psychological, emotional, sexual, social, economic or spiritual abuse.
The services at SHE are available to all women regardless of age, ability, marital or socio-economic status, cultural, religious or ethnic background, or sexual orientation. Interpreters can be used when required.
SHE offers a range of services including telephone counselling, face-to-face counselling, advocacy and referral, informal groups, structured groups and a library for women and service providers to borrow from, all in a supportive environment.
SHE is free. There are no fees involved in seeing our counsellors, participating in groups or training. The service is strictly confidential. We operate during normal business hours and later on one evening a week.
SHE has a safe central address. We provide discreet counselling rooms at a location that is not signed or promoted. A limited service can be provided at other venues for women who are isolated or for various reasons, such as mobility, difficulties with transport or financial constraints are unable to come to the SHE premises.
All counsellors are qualified and trained to work with people affected by family violence.
